WordPress Upgrade 2.0.1 to 2.1.1

On the way to my new domain www.colblindor.com as a first step I did an upgrade of my WordPress installation. And to my relief the upgrade worked without a problem in short time.

I followed the steps as described by the WordPress guys:

  1. Database backup. I used the plugin to make a backup and did also export the whole database as an SQL-file.
  2. File backup. Download of the whole weblog directory through FTP.
  3. Delete old installation. Delete all and hope for the best. But with the backups you are on the save side.
  4. Installation of WordPress 2.1.1. Upload through FTP of all the files. Easy and simple.
  5. /wp-admin/upgrade.php. This call upgrades the installation or better said the database to the new version.
  6. Upload/activate plugins. Because some plugins are needed to get no errors on the blog, I uploaded and activated them.
  7. Upload images. As the last step you have to upload the images, which are saved in the file structure. I just took them from the file backup.

That’s it, that’s all and it worked. I thought this could take quite a while but it was done in only about half an hour. The developers deserve a big “Thank you.”
