A red contact would do the same, and winking the other eye will exagerate the difference. I speak as a photographic engineering technician and photographer, so there is hope for us. Your not missing anything spectacular, and no cure is needed, people just need to understand that those who do not see full color spectrum, might actually be seeing a much better view.
